    Clunking Sound...

I'm getting a clunking noise at low speed left turns and at takeoff sometimes comming from the rear, I've checked all the ujoints and they're fine. the only thing I can think of is its maybe the rearend or hopefully just a trailing arm bushing. Any ideas?

    Re: Clunking Sound...

What kind of clunking is it? is it a clicking or actual clunking? if its a type of clicking then it maybe the spider gears in your rear-end. IF you suspect that's what it is you should really not drive it anymore until you get a chance to take off the rear diff cover, and if your lucky (assuming its spiders) only the spiders will be messed up and they won't have messed up your ring gear yet.

Also, do you have an aftermarket bracket on your rear trackbar? Aftermarket brackets can become loose and may clunk. Mine was loose and would move when i pushed the jeep back and forth at the axle end but i dont remember for sure if it clunked, because it made other noises so i never noticed haha.

If you can get some one to push on the jeep sideways while you look underneath that would help see if there is anything loose.

Thanks for the idea, im gonna try to get under and take a look more tommorow, but as far as the spider gears go, it'll be a 2 hour drive for me to get to the dad's shop where i have a lift. it's been doing it for a little while now, seems more like a clicking as the weight shifts though.

From your last description.. that sounds like a suspension part loose, when you say the weight shifts. Definitely check out your trailing arms and what not .. front and back. Be amazed how sound can travel on vehicle.

    Good Luck!
